All-on-4®—also known as All-on-6, All-on-X, and “teeth in a day”—is an innovative method of full-arch replacement that enables our Middletown implant dentists to give patients a full new set of teeth in as little as one appointment. This approach means that patients never have to go without teeth during treatment, ensuring they can continue to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

What Is All-on-4®?

All-on-4® “teeth in a day” is a method of restoring full arches of missing teeth using dental implants and a fixed overdenture. Unlike traditional removable dentures, All-on-4® implant dentures are secured in place, and they look, feel, and function much more like natural teeth. Between 4-8 dental implants per arch create a sturdy, durable support structure for a full set of prosthetic teeth.

Who Is a Candidate for All-on-4® Dental Implants?

All-on-4® can be an excellent tooth replacement solution for patients with significant tooth loss or decay, allowing for a near-immediate restoration of oral function and aesthetics. Patients who currently have removable dentures may also be good candidates. Indeed, those who have made the switch often report a higher overall quality of life, as they are able to eat a wider variety of foods and no longer have to deal with the maintenance associated with removable appliances.

Ideal All-on-4® candidates should have sufficient jawbone density to support the implants, although the All-on-4® technique often minimizes the need for bone grafting. Good overall health is important, as certain medical conditions might affect healing. Non-smokers or those willing to quit smoking generally achieve better outcomes. A comprehensive dental evaluation will help determine if All-on-4® is the best option for restoring oral function and aesthetics.

What Can I Expect From the AllWhat Can I Expect From the All-on-4® Procedure?-on-4® Procedure?

An initial consultation will be required to determine candidacy and develop a custom treatment plan. During this stage, digital x-rays and imaging scans will be taken so that our team can get a better idea of your existing jawbone density and begin designing your new teeth. From there, your dentist will create a precise plan for the placement of your new dental implants, ensuring optimal stability and durability over the long-term.

In some cases, patients may require preparatory procedures in advance of their dental implant surgery—including tooth extractions, periodontal therapy, and bone grafting, as needed. This helps prepare the mouth and ensure your oral health is sufficient for supporting the new implants.

In most cases, we are able to place All-on-4® dental implants in-office using a local anesthetic. Further sedation dentistry options are available as needed to help with anxiety, but most patients report that the implant procedure is quite tolerable—many are able to return to work within a day or two after their procedure.

After the implants are placed, a temporary overdenture can be affixed so that you continue to have teeth during the healing and osseointegration phases—the period during which the new implants fuse with your jawbone. Once the implants have fully integrated with the jaw, your permanent denture can be placed.
